Community Air Monitoring

  • Improve environmental conditions in Sunnyside by developing a community owned and operated air monitoring network.

  • Collaborate with City and County pollution control agencies to increase investigations and enforcement of environmental pollution

  • Identify and assess areas with high hazardous and criteria air pollutant levels

SCRO received a EPA ARP Enhance Air Monitoring for Communities grant to measure urban air toxics ethylene oxide, 1,3-butadiene, and formaldehyde and expand existing community air monitoring networks.

Air Alliance Houston and Sunnyside Community Redevelopment Organization

Air Alliance Houston and the Sunnyside Community Redevelopment Organization walked with air monitors and spoke to members and business owners to raise awareness on air quality in the neighborhood. It is our goal to generate localized data about air pollution in the Sunnyside area. As we thrive to enhance the air quality in our community, it is imperative that we embrace our local, state, and federal leaders about environmental equality for the greater good of our children and generations to come.
