Some air pollutants in Houston and Harris County communities were three times beyond what the Environmental Protection Agency deems allowable, an air quality study found.

Data gathered by Air Alliance Houston tracked harmful nitrogen oxides and particulate matter throughout 2022. While ozone and volatile organic compounds levels were also tracked, there is not an EPA standard adequate for comparison purposes, Anthony D’Souza, research and policy coordinator for the nonprofit, said.
